Taste Test: TINCUP Rye Whiskey

As the seasons start to turn here in western Colorado, so does my choice in distilled beverages. As the nights get cooler, I find my taste buds are longing for the warmth whiskey is known for. Whether you spell your whiskey with an “ey” or just a “y,” you know just what I mean.

On a recent fall camping trip, with snow in the upcoming forecast, I turned to TINCUP for my happy hour beverage of choice. I have been a longtime fan of their bourbon and had a baby bottle in our van for camping, but this weekend I had the fortunate chance to get my hands on a bottle of TINCUP’s Rye Whiskey.

TINCUP Rye Whiskey is crafted to mirror the roots of its name by celebrating the settlers and minors’ recipes. TINCUP Rye has a smooth taste with the bold flavor I expect in rye whiskey. To make it even better, after its aged for three years it’s cut with Colorado water to bring it to proof.

While I tend to lean towards Old Fashioned with rye, check out TINCUP’s recipe on their website. I most recently decided to make a Manhattan this weekend. It goes superb in both.

Whether you’re like me and change your liquor of choice with the season or you have a staple libation you love, I recommend trying all of TINCUP’s products. If you happen to find a bottle of the rye do yourself a favor and put it on your shelf to share with aficionados.
