Gear Hub: Truewerk T2 Fleece WerkHoody + T3 WerkBib

The cold weather is still around for a couple more months. There is still work to be done outside and new projects to be started as everything starts to melt. Like many, I have struggled on the perfect clothing to wear when working outside. I always find myself layering with my technical gear and that inevitably becomes work gear once I stain or rip it. Truewerk, a Denver based company, has set out to solve these issues with technical performance workwear.

After sliding into the T3 WerkBibs for the first time I knew this was a different workwear brand. There was no detail skipped when it comes to these bibs. They have a butter soft lining with three-layer fabric that is waterproof and breathable with a four-way ripstop outer layer. Truewerk cut out the bulk and kept the warmth. The full zip leg makes it easy to get in and out of and the built-in knee pads are clutch in many situations. With perfectly placed pockets, internal gaiters and subtle reflective details, the T3 WerkBibs are perfect for working outdoors in the cold.

I also tested the T2 Fleece WerkHoody. It is a great mid-layer for cold weather and perfect outer layer on cool days with its abrasion and debris-resistant outer shell. The T2 Fleece WerkHoody is breathable and comfortable. It also has a brushed liner for a great next-to-skin feel. My only change would be to shorten the sleeves two inches. They are designed to be long with built in thumbs holes, but for me that is not ideal.

Truewerk has taken inspiration from climbing and alpinist professionals with their layering approach to properly outfit and protect themselves from the elements and applied that to workwear. It shows in what I tested. I am excited to get into more of their well-designed pieces.

You may now find yourself taking your workwear out on your next adventure!
