Romp means “to play boisterously,” and Crested Butte brothers Caleb and Morgan Weinberg named their handcrafted ski company Romp Skis to embody just that.

“Skiing is supposed to be fun,” Morgan shares from his factory. “We want people to get on our skis and have a great day in the outdoors.”

As a lifelong skier, Morgan says each ski is created with the individual in mind. He explains quality skis make a bigger difference than one might think — Romp skis fly faster, the edges hold better and the core has a livelier feel than rental or older skis. The result is less fatigue and a more positive experience on the slopes.

“The way we work with our customers is unique,” Morgan shares. “We design a ski that fits someone’s skiing aspirations. We focus on the terrain it will be used on and the type of person who’s buying it, while of course accounting for their measurements.”

Romp Skis offers custom and premade skis. Custom orders start at $1,050, with premium upgrades available. The premade Romp Ready skis are $750. Morgan adds that Romp Ready skis are built with the brand’s custom-building experience in mind, just in a more affordable format.

Skis are not just a tool, but a toy. Newbies and veteran skiers alike can benefit from a pair of Romp Skis. “Just come to us with your abilities and aspirations and we can build a ski to work for you,” Morgan says.

A recent customer from Fort Collins shared: “Absolutely the best and most responsive pair of skis I’ve ever owned. I have the pintail and they really can do it all. Don’t know if I’ll ever buy any other brand.”

Over a decade into the business, and Romp Skis is committed to making the most durable, playful skis in Colorado.
